Absolute CT

Computerised Tomography (CT) has transformed what we are able to see inside the human body.

CT obtains three dimensional images of the body by using low dose x-rays.

While you lie on the table a rotating x-ray source uses small amounts of radiation to measure the density of your tissues. This is converted into pictures by a computer that the radiologist can then used to identify disease.

Our state-of-the-art scanner is built by Siemens in Germany.

Safety Info

Sometimes we will inject a fluid into a vein before the scan starts, to help quantify functional changes in the organs like the liver and kidneys, as well as the arteries and veins themselves. This fluid contains traces of iodine, so it is important that we are alerted to any allergies that you might have. Additionally because the scanner uses x-rays we need to know if pregnancy is a possibility.

Please feel free to call us to discuss any questions or concerns you may have with our team. We are here to assist you in every way.
